My 11yr. old has a pulled neck pain and bad coughing.....?

She went to the dr. for the cough and sinus pain, they diagnosed it as a sinus infection again (this is the second month that she has it, the first time it didn't go away even after antibotic treatment). She has a deep, loud cough but nothing else. Except for this neck pain on one side, that she woke up with. She was walking around yesterday with a crooked neck all day. It even hurts her when she coughs. I felt her neck it feels swollen a little and can feel a pea size bump (it rolls around) where the muscle feels tight. Do you think it could be a cyst or infection in the neck? Or just a plain old pulled muscle? I plan on takeing her to the dr. in the morning.......There is family history of a connective tissue disorders (I have it).

I had the flu a couple of months ago - and experienced neck pain too. I used to get what they refer to as "rye neck" as a kid - a lot.

One thing you have to be aware of is meningitis. (Look it up on www.wikipedia.org One of the few distinguishing factors is neck pain. Can she bow her head down and touch her upper chest with her chin? If not - there would be some reason for concern- and I would get her into a doctor pronto.

Don't know what the bump could be. You definitely want to see a doctor.

Hope she's happy and healthy again soon!!

About the persistent cough and infections. You may want to consider seeing a good Allergist.
