Grindding teeth in sleep because of Anxiety!?


ever since i was diagnosed with anxiety disorder i notice my jaw clicks alot when i turn my head side ways with my mouth open. so i asked my doctor he said it was because of the anxiety i grind my teeth at nite and now i get real bad pain on my upper side from the back of my neck and uncomterble feeling and the side's of my head kinda like a head ache but not as intesnse the doctor told me too were a mouth guard but he told me alot of things too doo 2 get 1 from a dentist is thier anothier way too stop grinding teeth? will tea that relax's me prevent me from grinding my teeth? or does anxiety disorder medication work best?

you griding your teeth have nothing to do with anxiety disorder. my husband does it alot and just not when he's sleeping all 3 of my kids do it from time to time. and he doesn't have a anxiety disorder. they say people do it out of stress, being tired, dreaming, apart of ADD or ADHD, etc. i have looked this up since he does it and it drive me up the wall some nights. you can wear a mouth guard at night to see if that helps you. you might also find out you always done it. you might have neck problems and from you jaw clicking you can pretty much crack any bone in your body. i would see if it your neck that is having the problems. he's been grind his teeth since he was little and he has no problems like that. other then the dentist telling him to wear a mouth guard.

Ask your doctor if a prescription sleep aid could help you reach a deeper level of sleep where your anxiety wouldn't effect you.
