Is it ms or not?

it started with smells making me sick to my stomache. thought i was pregnant. negative. thank goodness. had all the symptoms, still do.then came the ankle pain. got tested. they said tendonitis. headaches, pain in feet and then worked up to my legs. it felt like something was wrapped around my legs real tight. dr sent me for an mri. mri was abnormal. went to neurologist. he said abnormal nerve disorder. when asked if it could me ms, he said no, i was not in constant pain and therefore it was not m.s.
pain is getting worse now.used to be 50-70% of day i was in pain. now it is 80-95%. has only been 3 weeks since i saw him. the pills he gave me help the nerve twitching and some of the muscle spams. but the pain is still there. i am still able to walk only slower than usual the pain comes and goes. now it is going up to my buttocks muscles they spasm and hurt. lower back hurts, middle back hurts off and on.neck
hurts and headaches are acoming again.should i
insist on more tests?

Have they tested you for Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome. There are alot of atypical MS patients who really have APS. The twitching could be chorea also seen with APS, abnormal MRIs are also seen with APS, pain, headaches, etc are also seen with APS.

APS is associated with recurrent clotting events (thrombosis) including premature stroke, repeated miscarriages, phlebitis, venous thrombosis (clot in the vein) and pulmonary thromboembolism (blockage of an artery found in the lung due to a clot that has traveled from a vein). It is also associated with low platelet or blood elements that prevent bleeding. Recently, however, even more disease states have been linked with APL including premature heart attack, migraine headaches, various cardiac valvular abnormalities, skin lesions, abnormal movement/chorea, diseases that mimic multiple sclerosis, vascular diseases of the eye that can lead to visual loss and blindness.

So, I would have them test you for this. Below is some information for you to read. Good Luck!

Yes definitely get more test it took 31/2 years to finally Dx me with MS. Ms is a disease that causes all kinds of weird things to happen to you don't give up get a second opinion ASAP GOOD LUCK.

Hello

There is usually no pain associated with MS...If you had an MRI it would have shown lesions in your brain and spinal cord. I would defiantly ask for more tests and /or clarification on just what abnormal nerve disorder is,what the usual symptoms are and usual treatment. If your still not comfortable with what this doctor tell you I would ask for a second opinion. You don't say if the doctor is treating you or not...If you are receiving treatment its obviously not working. Also if your not seeing a neurologist you should ask your doctor for a referral to a good one in your area. Neurological pain is very hard to treat, so make sure your seeing a specialist who really knows what they are doing. You might also want to go to a pain clinic after you have a diagnosis you are satisfied with. They are experts in all types of pain...Good luck

If the medications that a doctor have given you are doing nothing to at least somewhat alleviate your condition, then you should contact your doctor to either stop or change the prescription. No sense in taking something that's not working (and is, ultimately, toxic to your body).

One thing I would ask you to consider, and I know it will seem trite, but think about your diet and at least be sure that you have eliminated any food intake that would qualify as possible 'suspects' for your issues (processed food, non-organic foods, artificial sweeteners...). It is becoming more and more known in the medical field that some of us have bodies that are reacting in the extreme to the nasty chemicals and man-made by-products that our bodies simply weren't designed to process.

Some have said that excessive intake of aspertame can cause serious nervous system symptoms that will dissapate with it's elimination from the diet. Others have noted that insecticides and whatnot found in produce and non-organic meats, after building up over the years, can cause the body to begin to have difficulties.

I'm not saying it's the solution... but it's a path worth travelling, even if only to say you did... and that it came to nothing.

Good luck.

what you look for with MS on MRI is plaques in your brain or even the spinal cord. If that was what was abnormal on MRI than you have MS.

OMG you are living in my body! Dr thought I had MS not. Did other testing seen a neurologist had every blood test the have what I have is rheumitiod arthrist started with my feet legs tuurned hard as rocks as with my arms between elbows and wrist. when I walk feels like bones are going to come right out of my feet I walk very slow hips calfs and feet hurting every step of the way my husband has to help me get out of bed up the stairs and even from a sitting position I can not get up on my own! Neurologist also says I have carpal tunnel which does not help with the pain either. I go seen a Rhuemitoligist on Sept 6th. Right now im living on pain meds water pills and muscel relaxers just to get thru the day. Ask your doctor to check for RA the back pain is also so painfull I can not get comfortable laying down or sitting or standing for very long GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!
