Nearsightedness?

I am 14 and i have been noticing (throughout the last year or so) that often in school i can not read the boards from the back of the room. This has been for awhile and even from where i am sitting other people seem to be doing fine. whenever i squint i can see it better. i read that being nearsighted is common in youth. does anyone know if i could possibly be nearsighted or what the cause of this could be ? thanksss so much : )

It's quite probably that you are nearsighted. That is a common age for onset. You should make an appointment to see an optometrist.

There's no real 'cause' of it, it's often genetic, but it frequently just happens. Tons of people wear glasses or contacts.

have your eyes checked... it sounds like you need glasses

If squinting helps, you probably are nearsighted. Talk to your parents and explain it. You need to have your eyes checked either way, just in case.

I have nearsightedness. That's what i had, i got my eyes checked, and they said i was infact nearsighted. I got my glasses. And i see just fine now. There's not really a cause, mainly genetics. Talk to your parents about it, and have them take you to the eye doctor.
