How can you heal myopia or nearsightedness?

How can you naturally heal nearsightedness?

There is no actual way to cure myopia naturally!
There are different ways to correct it though. Obviously you can use corrective lenses (contacts or glasses) Or some type of laser surgery. Although laser eye surgery is not suited for everyone and there are risks and possible serious complications!
Also if you have myopia under -6.00 you could try othro k!
Ortho K is when you wear special contact lenses while you sleep to reshape your cornea so during the day without wearing the lenses you will be able to see. However the effects are temporary and you must continue to wear the lenses at night to keep the desired effect. The good thing it is reversible if you are not satisfied and there are way less side effects then laser eye surgery.
Eye exercises do not actually work at all! Talk to your eye doctor about it!

Oh ya I just wanted to add pinhole glasses only work while you are wearing them ( and they look ridiculous) and there is no actual foods that improve eyesight.... just eat healthy to help help prevent eye disease

hi actually thats un true. Im 26 and a student living in london. My eye prescription was R.-3.50 AND L.-3.00.I wanted to improve my vision naturally as well.I thought about lasek eye surgery becuase my brother did it and it worked for him.... Report It

continued from above ....But i didnt like the idea of someone cutting my cornea and putting a prescription imprint on my cornea.I didnt like wearing contacts as it was uncomfortable and it made me blink almost every second. So i did a little research on some eye exercise methods. Report It

Continued from above...Its not really eye exercises more of changing your vision habbits and alot is focused on breathing and relaxation abit like yoga for your eyes. Any way ive been doing it for about a year now an i have noticed a big improvement. Report It

.............I wored my glasses less then before.I did a few more sports as well without my glasses like tennis swimming and football to get rid of any tension and stress and i allso have become more free and confident with the girls too. Report It

......I still wear glasses but im weaning of them.I went to my optician and my prescription has improved. My prescription is now L.-2.00 AND R- 2.50.So theres a major improvement. Report It

.........The thing about doing these exercises it takes time people expect to improve after 1 day 2 weeks etc but in reality it takes time.Any way so does lasek surgery becuase out of my research i when to a a surgery clinic in harley street in london and the surgeon says .. Report It

...after the treatment it takes a good 6 months for your eyes to fully heal. But the thing about me im a little lazy and i dont thease this exercises all the time ive just slight changed my vision habbits. Report It

...The reason why i started these exercises becuase my opthishen said i have healthy eyes and i replied if i have healthy eyes why am i wearing glasses. So then i started to change my habbits to improve. Report It

....Its improving and im going to keep at it so soon i will no longer need glasses. So there you go im living proof that it works. Thanks for reading my story and Take care and live great lifes. Report It

i dont know if there is a way to "heal" it besides corrective lenses or corrective surgery.

If THAT were possible- then NOBODY would be wearing Glasses or Contacts- would they??! Whatever you're Seeing with- THAT's what you've GOT. Eye transplants are just not that commonplace -yet... :)

Not naturally.
I hope someday you can though....my vision is 20/-230...I am legally blind. Everything 6 inches from my eye gets blury.

You can either wear glasses, were contacts, or you can fix your vision completely with laser eye surgery/you don't have to wear glasses or contacts anymore if you get that done.

One of the natural ways is by using pinhole glasses. Check it out at this websites: www.pinhole-glasses.com. U may also try some herbs i.e Ginko Biloba, Cayenne and Ginger, and Grape Seed Extract.

you cant heal it.......just use corrective glasses and eat healthy.........probably the power would decrease

I've been nearsighted since about 4th grade and I'm now 60 years old.

I believe myopia is caused by a nervous tightening of muscles surrounding the eye. This elongates the eye producing what we call myopia.

Only 3% of people with eye defects (like myopia) were born with a hereditary defect. The rest of us developed myopia over a period of time.

Your eyes vary in their ability to see clearly. When you are tense, nervous or angry your visual acuity decreases. When you are happy and relaxed you can see more clearly.

When you get a full strength prescription from an eye doctor, you're measured when you are in unfamiliar circumstances and are a bit nervous. Your new, stronger prescription establishes a new "set point" for your eyes.

Your eyes will again vary in acuity and your next prescription, again measured when you are nervous in unfamiliar circumstances, will probably be stronger yet.

The key is to learn to relax those muscles around the eyes and allow the eyes to return to a near spherical shape.

By doing so, my myopia has regressed through nearly 20 years worth of old glasses that I retained. My current prescription is lower than the earliest pair of glasses I retained.

I have an eye chart on the mirror in my bedroom. Most nights I close my eyes or place my palms over my eyes and try to relax them. The more my eyes relax (really the muscles around the eyes) the better I see.

A key is to allow the eyes to relax even while wearing glasses. I initially did that by wearing older glasses with lower prescriptions.

Since I now have no older glasses I have to do something to effectively lower the strength of my current prescription. So, I starting wearing reading glasses and putting my current prescription glasses over the reading glasses. So, I'm actually wearing two pairs of glasses.

It looks funny when people notice. But, my eyes are getting better every day.

I am now using +2 diopter reading glasses under my current prescription and am about to go to my behavioral optometrist to get a new, lower prescription.

I first suggest finding an eye doctor (probably an optometrist) who believes your eyes can get better.

I also recommend the follow two books about reducing your myopia:
