What's the difference between nearsightedness & short-sightedness?

What's the difference between nearsightedness & short-sightedness?

Generally, the term nearsightedness is used by American laypeople, and the term shortsightedness is used by British laypeople. However, myopia is the term used by health care professionals on either side of the Atlantic Ocean.

well, I am no eye doctor, but near-sightedness is the inability to see things that are far away. Short-sightedness is a frame of mind - not an actual eye diagnosis. Someone who is shortsided does not see things in a global way, but are more close minded and fail to look at all factors.

Nothing. Both are lay terms for myopia.
