How does the eyeball change shape?

According to optometry science, eyeballs can become enlongated from front to back, or horizontally, which results in myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness).

If so, what exactly is it that changes the shape of the eyeball before the lens hardens or changes curvative? Even children have vision changes - so anyone or ODs know the answer?

I was told that my nearsightedness was because of 'age'...I didn't like that answer. I have heard it is heredity, lack of vitamins, and poor eye care. It may be an individual thing, I am not sure.

BTW...Mr. Spock, good to see you again. My you haven't aged a bit since I watched you 40 years ago on TV!

Because you didn't like that answer either, I'll tell you I've been able to successfully reverse my myopia from 100/20 to 20/40 in just a month using the Bates Method, with mental 'clear flashes' of 20/13 or better. I know it makes no sense to you, but it's possible in a neuroplasticity sense. Report It

Neuroplasticity is a newly, recently emerged field of neuroscience.

The Bates Method teaches you about the following:

1) healthy eye habits which are exactly the same used by people with perfect sight
2) relaxing the muscular and nerve system to benefit the vision system Report It

3) creating mental imprints which drastically improve eyesight, similar to the idea of what many people would call "muscle memory"

You can take a look around and see what you think. You don't have to try it, but I know it works from experience. I've verified the 20/13 using a Snellen eye chart.

The method can also reverse presbyopia. There's a reason it doesn't make sense to our scientists. Report It

However, it's a long story that goes back into the history of when the optometry school was first starting. I've looked up that information and made some disturbing findings. It affects everything regarding our research. Our optometrists cannot give a conclusive answer to Report It

what causes the eye to be different shapes because of what happened back then. It is based on Helmholtz's Theory, from 1855, which affects our whole understanding of what causes refractive errors and diseases of the eye. I've found things that come directly from the researchers own words Report It

that are assumption-based, even in the same sentence. Ex.: It says at http://www.us.cibavision.com/f... that "exactly why eyeball shape varies is not known, but the tendency for farsightedness is inherited." Report It

Inherited? Yet they cannot tell you how the eyeball changes shape. It can do away with the presbyopia myth. Helmholtz's theory gives the researchers only a limited framework to work within, but alas it's their foundation and understanding of how the eye works. Report It

Don't believe me? Ask your optometrist next time if he knows the definite cause of how the eyeball changes shape to produce different refractive errors. Genetics is just a guess, nothing more, otherwise why would that cibavision site have said that? I'm done now but good luck! Report It

it squeezes

i was alwayys wonderin that tooo. maybe its sumthin dat happens before your born
