Uneven eyes?

uneven eyes?
please help

My eyes used to be what I would call "normal" before I screwed up my vision by

using the computer too much
not turning on the lights completely when reading
not getting glasses even though I have some astigmation and nearsightedness in one eye and am a little nearsighted in the other
not sleeping much-swolleness
or as my dad says, sleeping/using my right side of my face more?
or maybe i never exercise and i need to lose weight to fit my small frame and somehow my fat distribution is not right on my face?
my hair is blocking my left eye..

because my left eye is smaller and uneven compared my right? when i took a picture of myself, both eyes look a little crossed. sometimes i have trouble looking other people in the eyes because it makes me uncomfortable and sometimes reading is painful

but i look normal in the mirror? in the mirror what you see isn't what everyone else sees, correct? but in pictures is what everyone else sees.

should i ask the eye doctor

i have allergies

someone mentioned strabismus?

Well, it must definitely be that your hair is blocking your left eye! ;)

Seriously, none of the reasons listed above contribute to uneven eyes. As I tell my patient's, unfortunately we are not all as perfect as we like to think we are. My eyes are not perfect, nor are many of the patient's who I fit with glasses. If your eyes are crossing it may be due to a slight muscle imbalance. That can be corrected by prescription glasses.

Contrary to popular belief, reading in low light cannot damage your vision, it just makes it more difficult to see. If you are having problems with your reading, then it is probably because you do have the astigmatism, and your eyes are straining to see the words clearly. Again, this can be remedied by prescription glasses.

Now when you took a picture of yourself, your eyes may have converged to look at the camera, hence causing a crossed eye look. Though many people don't see the "real" them in reflection, unless your mind is completely distorting you to look perfectly fine, I think what you see in the mirror is you. I always see more weight on me than my family sees, but my eyes are generally the same through my or anyone else's eyes.

Go to the optometrist and he'll get you set up with some glasses that will help with the painful reading (unless you're reading a story on Bush, then nothing will help that pain). If you have concerns about crossed eyes, bring that up. He's the pro, and will be able to diagnose it, if it truly is there!

My eyelids are uneven. One is droopy and I have been asked about this on one of my many trips to the ER for a migraine headache. They are concerned with a possible stroke, but phew! it's just part of my look.

You should consult an optomitrist or an ophmalogist with your concerns..

Susie's problem is a bit different.. a droopy eyelid suggests a nerve involvement, which is consistant with her migraine syndrome. There are cranial nerves involved and that causes many other problems. She has partial Bell's palsy, only having an effect on one eyelid.
