Aaaaahh I'm blind!!!?

I just realized how bad my nearsightedness is. im about a -4.75 in left and -5.25 in right eye. how do i stop my vision from getting worse?!?! i don't even know how my vision got so bad in the first place. no one in my family not even my cousins, second cousins, etc have nearsighted vision. Is my vision so crappy because i keep losing my glasses? example, two years ago, i sat on my glasses and broke them so i got another stronger pair, i lost that one so i got stronger prescription.

Your vision is due to some genetics somewhere in your family. The Shape of your eyeball and cornea are pretty much something you can not control. Not having your glasses will not contribute to your RX changing. Your eyes may not stabilize until you are about 23 year old or so. You are considered moderately myoptic. I have a -6.50 and a -5.75 and I have vision different han my family as well with the expecption of One uncle, whose eyes are worse than mine! I have been an optician since I was 17 and now I am 44. I have been in the optical world for years! The night time contacts you can sleep in to correct your vision would not be what is best for youa tt his point as your RX is a bit high for what those are designed to do. You should really talk to your eye doctor about your options and what they t hink your eyes will do in the future. Do not listen to the laymen on here, I do know the difference between my iris and the hole where the sun don't shine, and I have an education to back me up.

CARROTS!!!!! seriously carrots are good for your eyes. Also try to stay away from computers and video games (things of that nature). Dont go out in strong sunlight and wear sunglasses. Try vitamins with "lutein" theres one from Bausch and Lomb.

No one can agree on whether the act of getting, wearing, and upgrading prescription lenses helps, hurts, or is indifferent to the progression of myopia.
Therefore, it's not worth it to speculate, since the "experts" don't know their anus from an iris.

Your eyesight is pretty bad by the way. Same as mine.

Get correction contacts. Usually they're hard contacts that you can wear overnight and they correct your vision. If you're not comfortable wearing contacts, (yes carrots will help, but not very much) ask your eye doctor if you should go in for lazer surgery. If that scares you too, (I know it scares me...) then just see if there are any medications you can take (although I doubt it). Terribly sorry about your vision ): Good luck!!!!
