Are all radiation treatments covered costs by the ontario health care system?

I am wondering if someone were to get nasal cancer are all the the radiation treatments covered and or drug treatments here in Ontario Canada?

they are supposed to. hav eyou been to the ohip site in ontario. but they have long wait times. no such wait imes in the usa. go to www.canada.gc.ca and find out more on health canada website. learn your rights and the laws and explore the OHIP site. i moved to ontario from the usa and had to learn about the system and spent a lot of time reading up on it.

call OHIP to find out more info.
this is a very long book from the ohip ppl and what is and is not covered. it has info about trillium.

If radiation treatment was the recommended therapy, yes it would be covered by OHIP. There were waiting times in the metro area back in the late 90's, but that isn't true now. I am not aware of the situation in the rest of province.

Drugs are not covered by OHIP other than chemotherapy or other ones administered in a hospital. Many people have supplemental insurance for drug, vision, dental, etc. If someone needs a drug that is expensive (in excess of some percentage of the household income) they can apply to the Trillium fund.

I was treated for breast cancer in Ontario 5 years ago. I had surgeries and chemo but no radiation. Everything was covered for me except for the after treatment drugs (Tamoxifen) and pain relief drugs after I was released from the hospital after surgery.

I even had nurse home visits free of charge after chemo treatments. I'm in Ottawa and went to the ORCC (Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre) and had no wait times at all, none! Treatment was fast and top notch. Even had breast reconstructive surgeries paid for by OHIP.

Like the other person said, if you have trouble financially there is the Trillium program available to Ontario residents.
