Question : Ulcer in nasal mucosa. Keeps getting bigger. Please help!?

Question Details: I have a sore inside my right nostril. The first time it appeared, I'd had a cold and had been blowing and wiping (sometimes pulling on and squeezing) my nose. I assumed that I had just caused a break in the skin and it would heal. It did after a few weeks.

That was a year ago. It recurrs everytime there is an irritation of the nose. Now when it occurs, it is bigger each time. I also get swelling inside the nostril (not alot), my teeth hurt a little bit right under that nostril and sometimes I have a swollen lymph node in my cheek or jaw. The other odd thing is that the nasal hairs never grow back.

Not only is it painful and spreading, but the inside of my nose itches very badly! I try to leave it alone but sometimes just have to rub the outside of my nose even though it is painful.

I smoked for about 25 years but have quit. I have a family history of cancer. I really need an opinion.

Go to the doctor right away. This may be serious. It was a mistake to wait for a year

Here are my two suggestions. Use a little Neosporin to lubricate and heal the inside of your nose.

Second is to mouthwash with Hydrogen Peroxide. It is VERY healing and should heal all of the pain and tenderness going on in the area between the gums and the tissue up to the nasal cavity.

My Husband and I smoked for about 8 to 9 years in our twenties. We quit 40 years ago. But learned this year that we both have scars on our lungs from way back then.

Do this daily till it heals.

If you have cancer history in your family, you should see a dermatologist or an ear, nose and throat specialist also SOON.

My husband got a simple mole (but it grew to 1/2 inch in about 6 weeks.) It was a melanoma, and after the surgeries and testing, we now know that he has a 600% chance of more. So we are in wait and watch mode.

He had the mole, a Melanoma, a dry spot the size of a dime, it was squamous cell, and a spot on his back (he had had it for at least 25 years and it is a basil cell. But it is a type that you can have all of your life. You really need to have these checked on. I hope you have insurance.

I am who studied about smokers. This could happen because you smokes about 25 years.Do you know whats happen to your face it is wrinkles on your face.The hairs regrowing because you smokes alot but you have to wait for more 50 years. You gotta stoppppp stop scratching on your nose.. Do you know whats happen to your teeth it getting( like do you know if you eat too much chocolate and it badly hurt) that mean you gotta go to dentist.If your dentist said, "I can't do anymore".So you might gets cancer.
