Ulcer in nasal mucosa. Keeps getting bigger. Please help!?

I have a sore inside my right nostril. The first time it appeared, I'd had a cold and had been blowing and wiping (sometimes pulling on and squeezing) my nose. I assumed that I had just caused a break in the skin and it would heal. It did after a few weeks.

That was a year ago. It recurrs everytime there is an irritation of the nose. Now when it occurs, it is bigger each time. I also get swelling inside the nostril (not alot), my teeth hurt a little bit right under that nostril and sometimes I have a swollen lymph node in my cheek or jaw. The other odd thing is that the nasal hairs never grow back.

Not only is it painful and spreading, but the inside of my nose itches very badly! I try to leave it alone but sometimes just have to rub the outside of my nose even though it is painful.

I smoked for about 25 years but have quit. I have a family history of cancer. I really need an opinion.

You absolutely need to go to the doctor. Lesions on the nasal mucosa are not normal. I would bet that it's infected, which is why your teeth hurt. There are all kinds of nasty little things living in your nose that can cause infection. Any infectious organism can get into the blood stream and cause severe and life threatening reactions. There is also the possibility of cancer. 25 years is a long time of putting carcinogenic substances into your body. Coupled with the fact that you have a family history of cancer only increases the chance that it's malignant. Don't put this off any longer and go to the doctor!

This sounds like something you should really see a doctor about.

i would go to a doctor, that almost sounds like a cancer
