What is this? sinuses? pnd? grrr?

For the past 4 years I've had serious anxiety. The anxiety caused me to become a complete hypochondriac and it's driving me crazy.

About two years ago, after a bad cold and sinus infection, I started getting this feeling in my throat, as if there is tons of phlegm there.

When I try to cough it up it moves but I just swallow it again. I have had a chronic, dry cough for the past few weeks. I clear my throat constantly.

I do smoke, but when I stop for a day or so it doesn't matter. The cough is still there, the clearing is still there.

While I eat, I don't cough, but the food takes a few extra seconds to get down to my stomach, as if there is phlegm blocking the way.

After I eat, it gets worse. I cough even more and clear my throat.

While I'm sleeping, I'm fine, I don't cough at all. When I wake up I can feel somethig in my throat, and then the cough starts.

I have tried sudafed, benadryl, nasal spray, etc.

It's starting to scare me, I feel like I have some sort of cancer.

I want to mention I do have GERD, which I started to take prilosec for.

I had a CT scan done, came back fine.

I had something similar, and i thought it was cancer too... it hurt swallowing and eating, and it was like 2 lumps in my throat. Got them while i was sick... after a month or 2 they went away.. ps never got them check out...
