What kind of natural medicine is there to take place of narcotics?

I have currently been on high levels of narcotics for the past six months and trying to get away from them. Is there any natural remedies. All of the tendons in my foot were cut along with nerves and after four operations I still have a lot of pain and sick of dealing with habit forming meds.

I have severe arthritis and I use, externally, castor oil on my knees. Don't laugh, but as I rub it into my painful knee joints, it DOES help. It has increased my mobility and lessened the pain.
Also, I have used the pain patches for arthritis...Ben Gay and Wellpatch work fairly well for me. There's many other pain patches available as well.
The castor oil can be found in the laxative aisle at Walmart, but as I said, I rub it on my knees.

After 14 years of pain, I have found little that helps my pain better than the strong meds I have been prescribed. I also have other health issues that prevent me from trying too many natural remedies. I wish you some relief and I hope you find another treatment that works for you.
