Are there any narcotics or illegal drugs that don't show up on a urine test?

I am a supervisor in a shop. I had a guy today who I thought might have been on drugs. Somebody in the front office thought so too. His test was clean, but I still think that he was dirty. I over heard him saying that he was "still buzzing". I know that he didn't fake his test.

There are several different types of tests, and each one will have a different set of drugs that will be effectively identified. Depending on which drug he has been using, it may not show up on the particular test that you administered. My suggestion would be, to contact the owner of the company, indicate your concerns, and if he is willing, get a hair follicle test done. This test will show which drugs he has used if any. This test is also more effective because it can identify drug use up to 9 months after ingestion for some drugs. Good luck.

There are a lot of drugs that don't show up in a standard drug test. The thing is.. that test is only equipped to look for certain drugs. Other drugs won't even show up. You'd need a HUGE panel of tests to cover them all.

Maybe he meant he has been drinking.

If you are a supervisor and suspect his drug use.. you should consult the owner. If he was to get injured on the job, you wouldn't want to be held liable or the company.. would you?
