Pot vs. narcotics?

I asked the question about pot. I can tell who is really suffering and who works in a pain clinic. I am almost 40 years old. I was born with arthritis and diagnosed when I was 7. Every joint in my body is deformed. My tibias are rotated. My arms are rotated. I have had over 46 surgeries due to arthritis. The last one I almost died. I'm damn tired of taking pills and I hate the taste of pot-but it helps better than anything I've tried in 40 years. I have Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, adult rheumatoid arth(they are very different) spinal stenosis, TMJ, osteoporosis, soft tissue disease, tendonitis, bursitis, rheumatoid nodules that cause me much pain, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, everywhere anything connects or doesn't is where I hurt. the only thing that doesn't hurt is my damn nose. My skulll hurts because I have bumps like knots in your back only they are all over my head and they hurt. I can hardly walk and have been in and out of my electric wheelchair for years at a time. MArinol, the synthetic THC pill, works quite well. I take it for nausea sometimes. It doesn't make you stoned, but relaxes your muscles, stimulates your appetite, and relieves nausea. The person who mentioned it before was wrong on dosages, it comes in 5, 10, and 20 mgs, not 25. Ask your pain doc about it. When I take it with my regular pain meds (Oxycontin and Oxy IR) it also bumps up their effects. It's expensive because there is no generic, but it really works and doesn't make you high in the same way pot does. i'm not really sure what yer question is,. . but if yer asking is you should smoke pot to ease yer pain, i say for sure, it has proven medical uses, i bet if you get caught with it a judge would be sympathetic and would give you a fine at the most. . .i say, if it helps, use it // good luck

I am sorry you are suffering so much. I say you do what you have to do to feel better. No one should hurt every day - it just isn't fair. I wish I had something to say to help you....

fun fact: in cali, marijuana is actually classified as a narcotic, even though it is not an opium derivative. with election coming up in 2008, i believe we should all petition to a candidate hopeful to legalize it, and solve this problem for other states. most may argue this, but marijuana IS ADDICTIVE. however, most narcotics are much more addictive. at the same time, most narcotics can be prescribed legally in all states, not every state can say the same about that sticky icky...so my answer is....what big bro don't know, don't hurt 'em...spark it up. don't know what to tell you about the taste, eat food to get rid of it, mouth wash and brushing just make the taste worse directly after.......not that i know

I know what suffering is all about. I have chronic psorasis. All I do is itch. Scratching doesn't help. It actually makes it worse. Ask your doctor about medical marijuana. I think there may even be a thc pill. Ask It will never hurt.

sory you are in so so much pain,however pot will as does tend to relax the body.tell your doctor af your situation first.There are legal pot stores,but your dr. has to fill out these forms,there is a pill called MARINOL,cotains thc,tis pill comes in 5,10,25mg,but can only be given to fr. a docters presciption!!I..I too deal inpain from an injury and I do both,my family doctor gave me my perscription,all pain medication is addictive and over time it does not work,then dosages have to be increased or medication has to be changed also medication can cause stomach problems and you sound like you have enough problems with out adding to them,good luck to you!!!

I feel absolutely horrible for you...no one should be in constant pain. I'm not sure what your question is, but, whatever it takes to ease your pain, I say, go for it.

I just did a Yahoo search and came up with a truck load of pain clinics...I found laser, acupuncture and some by area and there were various options. If your Doctors can't come up with anything more than an electric wheelchair do your own research. Just search for pain clinics, that alone will lead to all kinds of options.

you know, i just answered a dif question of yours and now saw this one. I say smoke the damn pot. It's good for you. At least when it comes down to what everything's made from, pot's mother natures gift to earth. All natural. Pills have all kinds of side effects and why take them if they don't help?? Screw it.. smoke the mary. it's probably cheaper anyways. And about the taste, don't eat afterwards... it'll make the effects go away faster. seriously. I know. It gives you the muchies so the best thing to do is eat first, get you a good beverage, and smoke the pot, and take drinks inbetween.

If pot helps I sugjest you ask your doctor for THC tablets, the smoking of pot constricts the blood vessels and limits the flow of oxygen to your small blood vessels, plus thier is tar and cabon monoxide in the smoke and it's an iratant to the lungs and nervous system, all drugs are unhealthy pot is no differnert it may make you fell ok for now and in some short times but what happens when you start having to use more to get the same effect? you use more and cause more damage, plus you don't know what the pot is laced with, no w you could smoke hash it's more potent and taks less but it stil damages the body, and sooner or later you wil have to deal with addiction, don't beliee there is no addiction on pot just ask anyone whos smokd it for a couple of years ad se how mean they can get, even robbing freinds a gun point to get it. ask your doctor and try rotating different drugs. however I have a question , do you eat meat? do you drink milk? I have known people who did and that was their problem because some chemicals in meat and eggs and milk wil cause the problems you are describing. Also a lack of some ameio acids like glico nutrutions and other dietary problems that your doctors may not be aware of. I hope this opens you up to some ideals to ask questions from your doctor or find a doctor who has informatio on these types of answers, most problems are do to a lack of or to much of some substance that they are not aware of thats why the call it practicing medicine.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
