Marijuana and Narcotics Anonymous and AA? |
Should a heavy Marijauna smoker that's trying to quit consider NA, or an ex one who maybe needs support? Maybe a person psychologically addicted? Or is NA and AA only for people with serious drug addictions? The only criteria you need to fufil to becom a member of NA is the desire to stop using. Go for Narcotics Anonymous. NA and AA are for anyone who likes to get intoxicated on occasion, but would rather replace it with a cult or was court ordered to. In NA some people are claiming to be marijuana addicts. You're not supposed to talk about your drug of choice specifically, but everyone will during smoke breaks. absolutely you should go to a meeting. these meetings are for anyone who has ever had a problem with alcohol or substance abuse. you will NOT be turned away at any meeting you attend. and you can also just listen if you are uncomfortable talking at the first few meetings. no one will judge you for anything you did, even if it is relapse. my advice is to try it. i did and it felt like home the moment i walked in the door. you will be surprised to find that you are not alone in the struggle. good luck and i am pulling for you!!! Marijuana can enhance life, and ruin it if abused. You got used to relying on marijuana for some things that should be done without it. Just lower the dose. "Drug addict" is a very strong term. Look at Rastafarians, they smoke so much, but because they have a different mind set you can barely put any of them into this category. best. Narcotics Anonymous does not matter what or how much you used.what you have done in the past,Just that you want to get help. NA is for Marijuana users. Pot is the easy drug to get off of. I smoked at least five joints or bowls a day for three years. One day i got sick of having no goals. So i stopped, cold turkey. You may get headaches but you don't go through withdrawals like other drugs. You may feel yourself getting a little angry, but ignore it. In a few days you will be right as rain. Though i know of many people that function perfectly on pot. Made it through school with high grades. I was not one of them. I don't see how they did it. It affects people in different ways. I was a low function person on pot. Now i feel better. I'm not saying i don't partake when it is offered to me, but that is not very often, and i find myself only being able to take one or two hits before i am completely stoned. I got paranoid on pot too. Just stop smoking it. I maybe smoke it twice a year if that. Narcotics Anonymous would be perfect. Although marijuana is not physically addictive there are tons of people that have a psychological addiction to it. marijuana users are most definetly welcome at NA meetings, but to be honest, I have seen people make fun of marijuana users at metings for not being "hardcore" enough. The person going needs to realize that those giving them a hard time about thier drug of choice are being stupid, and the people that embrace them at the meeting are the "winners" that they should stick with In my opinion, and I've attended NA, it would be a wonderful idea to attend NA meetings. It is made up of users of all types of abused drugs. You will be accepted for who you are and you are not expected to be an instant success. Relax and just give a smile. |
