What does it mean when narcotics are affecting a fetus via a placenta or breast milk? |
How does this happen? I am also trying to find it in the ICD-9 coding index.. It means the baby depends on what you do with your body & what you eat to help their body form, grow & develop. The placenta is the "lifeline" from your body to theirs! As their body develops it is effected by what you do. If you ingest narcotics or anything that can damage their body or development it WILL!! This can cause stunted growth (smoking too!), or malformed body parts, not to mention an infant drug dependency. it means dont take drugs while preg DUHHHH!!!!!!!! When a woman is doing drugs and she is pregnant, the drugs will get to the baby through the placenta. When the baby is breast feeding, the baby will ingest the drugs through the breast milk. not a doc, just read a lot.... When you use narcotics they are passed through the blood to the placenta. The placenta provides baby w/nutrients and food.Same concept w/milk.What you eat ,drink, smoke etc. finds its way through the mom to baby...There are many good books, google it! It means drugs are getting into the mothers bloodstream, and the baby is taking drugs too, through the placenta. Everything the pregnant, or breastfeeding mother eats, drinks, smokes, snorts, injects, breathes, the baby does too. Such a dumb question!!! |
