Do you think long term narcotics are the answer to pain?

Do you think long term narcotics are the answer to pain?

If it is the only way to keep the pain under control then yes. Try other things first (duh), but if that won't cut it then there is no choice.
There are plenty of people who are on narcotics long-term to control pain and are productive wonderful human beings. If we took away their pain control they would be in hell because they hurt so bad. If for some reason the pain goes away we can taper down the pain medications to avoid any physical problems of suddenly stopping a med (which is done with all kinds of meds).
People who are on a correct dose of pain meds do not get a 'high' from their pain meds. They get relief from the pain.
People who are addicts to narcotics are rarely people who are in chronic pain using and using the med for pain control.

No, as addiction is a serious consequence

NOPES... I THINK YOU HAVE THAT CONFUSED WITH THE ANSWER TO LONG TERM ADDICTIONS...

oh no. long term therapy maybe.

No they are not, I have RSD and have constant pain. While I attended Pain Management I was a zombie, Oxycontin, Duragesic patches, morphine, Demerol. I had to be weened off these because like the other people say, I became addicted to them. I couldn't think like a human being. Try a Tens unit or anything else, I even tried bee sting treatment. It hurts, I live.

no, I don't even favor smoking....

Sometimes.......

If you had no other choice.

Mostly window dressing. They're both based on the same 12 steps with little word changes. AA is more established and dogmatic, with a slightly better success rate: 5%. Yep, 5%.
