Narcolepsy and Provigil? |
So my doctor wants me to do a sleep study. I mentioned my extreme fatigue during the day and the fact that I can sleep for about 24 hours almost straight through and this new doctor actually listened to me and is doing somethign about it. I have been searching for 6 years for what is wrong with me and how to fix it. docs kept saying it was depression, but the meds never helped with the fatigue ATALL! I tried alot of them. Turns out I have pretty much every symptom of narcolepsy. I even told a doctor once about my sleep paralysis,( i didnt know what it was then) and he basically told me I was a hypochondriac. I even have cataplexy mildly I believe I get weak and my vision gets a lil funny I feel a bit unsteady. My mom says that my face looks funny when I am really tired. So the doctor put me on provigil. It kinda works. It makes me loopy at first. Please explain why I just had a sleep attack at work when I am on this med, and why does it seem to make me drowsy? Its like I feel so exhausted still, but instead of passing out and sleeping, I am awake and just really sleepy. Its almost annoying. Does this feeling go away ever, or is it something I am just going to have to get used to, and will the sleep attacks subside? I thought they were just going to stop. Guess I was wrong. Medications take some time to become effective, and sometimes take a little getting used to. Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily, replacing 2 of them with cod liver oil supplements, or a teaspoonful of the oil (I spread mine on toast, and mask its strong taste with fishpaste, and pepper), in the winter months only, and eat healthily, in accordance with your "nutritional type" as determined at http://www.mercola.com/ SEARCHBAR. I suppose you have had blood tests done, and thyroid and adrenal functions checked. Provigil You need more exercise and fresh air. Do your best to walk about 2 miles early, before you start your day, and don't forget eating breakfast. Walk another 2 miles in the late afternoon after your last meal of the day. You might need to work up to the 2 miles and start with only a half a mile. I too felt tired all the time until I started this routine. |
