Contact Lenses and Narcolepsy? |
I am a narcoleptic (narcolepsy is a disorder wherein you tend to sleep even if you don't want to) and recently i've considered getting myself contact lenses. i've also learned that contact lenses are not meant to be worn while sleeping. night time sleeping is really not my concern since i would really take it off before sleeping at night. but what if i fell asleep during the day for 1 or 2 hours while wearing the contact lenses. will it have any negative effects on my eyes? there are some soft contact lenses that can be worn while sleeping. I don't know if my husbands are approved for this, but he sleeps with his in all the time and has no problems. Be honest with your eye doctor about your condition so they can find the best type of contact for you. Good luck ! You don't need to worry as long as you aren't getting hard contacts (I don't even know if they make them anymore). Your best bet would be the disposables as they are meant to be worn for about 15 days (even at night). They are thinner than saran wrap, and you don't have to freak if you lose one. |
