Does anyone live with narcolepsy?

I just researched on the web and found that I have all the symptoms for narcolepsy. I was wanting to know if anyone has this condition and is taking medication for it. I have gotten to the point where I can't stay awake when I just ride in the vehicle with a friend down the road. I have trouble wakening up in the morning and have lost my job over it. I always feel tired and I have a son that I have to stay awake for. :)

I have narcolepsy with the four other "classic" symptoms of narcolepsy, which may not occur in all patients, which are cataplexy, sleep paralysis, hypnogogic hallucinations, and automatic behavior.

I am prescribed a dextroamphetimine to keep me awake.

If you are diagnosed with narcolepsy, if you are able to work, it's a good idea to notify your manager and have it put in your employment records, because as long as you notify your employer, they are required to try to accommodate you up to a point as long as you are able to do the job you've applied for reasonably speaking. They are not allowed to just fire you then, unless you are just not qualified for the job or you of course commit a serious infraction. It's best to check that information with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act ) .

Without my medication, I can fall asleep and still seem awake and be talking, (which is always amusing for my wife, lol) Or watching a movie, my favorite joke for myself is, "Two Movies for the price of one," because I instantly go into rem and start dreaming without knowing.

If you do get diagnosed with narcolepsy after getting a sleep study done or seeing a good neurologist, there are support forums and online groups.

I think it always helps to know you're not alone when dealing with a difficult condition.

that's ruff, SNORE< oh sorry, what was I saying.
I have a few other problems not that one, but I have some sympathy for you.

Go to a sleep center at a university and have a sleep study done. My cousin had it and they told her there is a genetic link. She took adderall and stuff for years, then she had a heart attack with brain damage from lack of oxygen and now she more has the opposite problem of being unable to sleep or rest well and is off of adderall....
