Is it dangerous if you come into contact with blood in public?

What if you accidently touch some blood in public? Say even if you get it on your nail and then scratch yourself with that nail? Can you catch swerious diseases like that?

its always a possibility but very small! if you have a cut on your hand and some one needs first aid you should always wear gloves. but when someones bleeding we dont always think about that. i work with children and when they fall and cut themselves and are hysterical its hard to say to a three year old "i know it hurts and you are bleeding but hang on till i get my gloves!"
its unlikely that you would catch anything by getting a drop of blood on your nail adn then scratching yourself with that nail. if you are worried tho call your gp or a nurse they will help!

I THINK THERE ARE SOME VERY RUDE PEOPLE ON HERE - SOME OF THESE ANSWERS ARE BLATANTLY BEING NASTY!!!!!!! Report It

You could die!

YES BUT UNLIKELY

Yes, especially if it's your blood.

there is a chance of infection and HIV but that would have to be that you touch blood with an opened wound even then the chances are slim xx

Yes.

you could get HIV/AIDS.

Yes and no. It's a hazard, but the real danger is if the blood is infected and actually gets into your body. Your skin will protect you, but if you had any open cut and the blood got into it, you could be in trouble.

Fresh blood conceivably, dried blood unlikely in the extreme

There are many blood borne pathogens. If you come in contact with it wash immediately with soap and hot water. You never know.

why do you care??

Yes it is possible, Best thing is not to do it in the first place. If you have and the blood on your nail has possibly gone into a scratch in you skin then ring the hospital for advice.

Doctors and nurses do it all the time. They tend to wash it off so they don't catch anything.

Of course you can-
I am a nurse and I can tell you that among so many others?
AIDS is just one thing to think about here in this day.

It would be best for you to speak to a doctor right away.
If they feel that you could have been exposed they can put you on the AIDS cocktail for a period of time. This has been shown to stop the virus before it can bury itself into your immune system.

They way want you to be treated with many different drugs.

You must be careful out there today. Everywhere people have coughed up or bled out ,,whatever..bodily secretions then there is always a potential problem.

Go to your doc ASAP.

The act of coming in contact with blood is not necessarily dangerous. However, if you were unfortunate and the person had an infecious disease, then you would be at risk. It is always important to practice good handwashing techniques using antimicrobial soap, and to see your physician when in doubt.
