Hypothyroidism?

Just wondering if it's possible that I have hypothyroidism?

I have an Autoimmune disease (Celiac disease) My mother's sister was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. And I have several of the symptoms. (Fatigue, brittle hair/nails, cold intolerance, swelling/pain in joints, no weight loss with diet and exercise, etc...)

Is there a way to be diagnosed with out having blood work done?)

LOL, I have a phobia about needles... that's why I'd rather not have the blood work if possible.

I pretty much think to be sure you'll need to have the blood work done. If you do have it you need to be on medicine. I'd try to get it checked.

Celiacs are more likely to have thyroid problems, so you could get an ultrasound of your thyroid.I had thyroid cancer, NOT DETECTED by blood work,so blood work is NOT the best. but my doc said my celiac daughter should have an ultrasound of her thyroid. good luck. Report It

Yes, it is possible that you have it. A greater number of people today have the condition. The only way to find out is to have morning blood work. The doctor will probably order a TSH. If possible also have a free t4, free t3, and an antibody test.

The only way to diagnose hypothyroidism is with blood tests for thyroid hormones. Those thyroid hormones are free T3 and free T4. (Not TSH. TSH isn't a thyroid hormone.)

Why would you not want to have blood work done and get a proper diagnosis? You must have to get blood tests already. Just have the doctor tack on the thyroid tests.

Hi,

You can use this Hypothyroidism Symptoms checklist to bring to your doctor to help aid in getting a proper diagnosis of hypothyroidism, or as background information in your discussions regarding finetuning your dosage so you are at the optimal TSH level for your own level of wellness.
