Should I be worried re: my teens clubbing of her toenails? She's 15. Fingernails are ok. Bad Headaches too.

She was born with a heart murmor. Told at age 6 months it was fine. Brother did have a large ASD and had surgery at age 3 to repair the hole in his heart.

She has a history of stomach issues - nothing serious, but what my grandmother would have termed a 'nervous stomach'.

She now has severe headaches daily. Pain her her neck daily.

Recently was severely dehydrated (in the winter - Dec 9th).Just woke up one day with with severe nausea, fever, vomitting and SEVERE headache, high WBC count. Required IV fluids. Fine the following day.

But continues with daily headaches and neck pain.

And I JUST noticed yetserday that her toenails are 'clubbed' (the nail curves around the end of the toe, because the toe is really large and fleshy). All her toes appear this way. Her fingernails appear fine.

I knew that clubbing of the fingernails can be a clinical sign of an underlying disease, but what about toenails?

I do not know if I am being silly to worry or if I should take her to the doc?

Yes clubbing of the toenails is also a sign. I am a nursing student and that is one of the signs we recently had to watch for. Generally it results from a heart condition or circulatory issue. The extremities usually show the first signs of circulation issues. I would get her checked ASAP especially since she is having neck pain. The neck, back and arms are location of referred pain and can indicate something else is going on.

TAKE HER TO THE DOCTOR!!!

i would take her to the dr asap.you can never be to carefull about childrens health.get her heart checked also.god bless her

take her to the doctors of course...

if she is constantly thirsty and complaining of headaches etc.. she may be diabetic or have another condition.

A good test is to have her raiser her arms above her head. If she complains of increased pain, decreased blood flow, tingling or there is an abnormal increase in heartrate, I would have her checked out asap.

as with ALL health problems, it is better to deal with them as soon as possible rather than wait, as things like diabetes and other illnesses can cause other damage and illness if not treated promptly.

do not gamble with time...
