Tick Bite Help?

Ok, Im 15, I got bite by a tick in upper minnesota. It happened at the end of my toe right by where the nail is. This happened over a month ago and my toe has been enflamed the whole time. Its puffy, red and now my skin is starting to peel lightly. It itches once and awhile and I'm a little worried that I got some disease. When I removed it I removed the whole head and then I burned it which I know I shouldn't have done now. I Really worried and would be great help if you could tell me what to do and what it is. Pls I'm very scared, Thank You for your help
Derek Miner

I burned the tick not my toe and there is no ring. Also it's been about 2 months and I don't feel sick.

Hi Derek,
I live in Minnesota and I'm very familiar with ticks. I can say almost for certain that the tick did not give you some disease unless it was a deer tick which could give you Lyme disease. Its possible that you have a local infection. You need to go to your doctor and tell him everything.

it's been nice knowing you dude.

Google 'Lymes disease', that is what you can catch from ticks or it might just be infected (more likely). If you have flu like symptoms with a red ring around the bite then you may have Lyme's. If not then you're probably okay.

It sounds like it is infected. Take it to the doctor.

If it starts to throb or a red line appears going up your leg GO TO ER immediately as it could be going septic. I had a small burn on my finger once and it went septic-my finger swelled up loads and I had to be rushed to hospital for emergency penicillin. If this is left untreated (and it is septic) you could die as the red line is the poison going towards your heart. If it gets there you would have septicemia which kills.

If there isn't throbbing/a line don't worry too much but take it to the doctor. It is unlikely you have a disease. Itching generally occurs when something is trying to heal.

Derek,
Get to a doctor.Tell him/her everything you just told us.It could be infected.
What do you mean about burning ? What did you burn? Your toe or the tick?

If the tick was a deer tick you may have Lyme disease. The treatment is antibiotics.
Don't put it off.
Just get the medical care you need .
Good luck

go to the doctor the more serious it get it Will get worse and may develop into a real issue i would say go to you doctor worst thing they will do is give you a shot and yes in the toe my mom had to have that done about 4 yrs ago when she got bite by a brown recluse in between her toes so easy suggestion go to the doctor and don't let the people try to scare you probably don't have it but go to the doctor and get checked before you let it get worse hope the helps

go to the dr. sounds like its at the very least infected.

Don't worry--I don't think it's a terrible disease!

It sounds like you got a local infection where the tick bite was.
Clean the area with peroxide, let it dry, and then use an antibiotic ointment such as Mycitracin or Neosporin. I know it's hard to bandage a toe, but you can probably find a "band-aid" shape to fit around it.. Be sure whatever you bandage it with is sterile (Band-aids are) It's easier if you can get someone responsible to help you.

Change the bandage one a day, and wear clean socks!

If it is not better in 3-4 days, see your doctor. He may have to prescribe a special ointment for it.

A month isn't so long when it comes to tick born diseases. See your doctor, immediately. He will run some tests and prescribe an antibiotic . . . for whatever your current infection is. Don't stress, but don't procrastinate in seeing your doc. The longer you wait the more the infection will take hold of your health.
