I think i have hypothyroidism...? |
i have most of the symptoms, like: i don't have any of the other symptoms though... i don't have a swollen neck, swollen eyes, puffy skin, hoarse voice, etc. Hypothyroidism is becoming very common. It's probably due to our food and the way its processed. It does seem to run in families, so its possible that you could have the condition. All your symptoms do sound like hypothyroidism. To find out if you have the condition, you would have blood work first thing in the morning and then find out what the numbers are. The reason I say find out the numbers is because far too many labs are going by outdated lab ranges for TSH (the standard thyroid test) AACE recommends if the TSH is over 3.0 with symptoms that the person be placed on thyroid meds. yes its possible, i have hyperthyroidism, you have to see a doctor, you should do a blood test, if needed you will have to take a pill for a while in order to maintain it and eventually it will slow down, if you can reduce your stress or what ever that makes you nervous. I was recently diagnosed with this as well, and have to see an endocrinologist. I havent been to the specialist yet, my appointment is a few weeks away. Hypothyroidism is not very common anymore because it is caused when your body doesn't have enough iodide. Iodide is usually added to salts and some other foods to prevent hypothyroidism. Yes it is very likely that because it runs in the family that you will have a problem too. Hypothyroidism is a very common, very underdiagnosed condition. There is a strong hereditary component to it. It is believed that hypothyroidism is becoming so prevalent because of destruction/mutation of the mitochondria within cells (these make your energy). Since your mitochondria are 100% from your mom's DNA, the fact that your mother has issues is very pertinent. |
