Eat more foods that are rich in the amino acid Lysine ie ~ fish, lima beans, meat, low fat cheeses, yeast, eggs and all protein rich foods.

Lysine is an essential amino acid which is essential for growth, tissue, repair and the production of antibodies, hormaones and enzymes.

Lysine will also help utilise fatty acids needed for energy production.

If you are often tired, unable to concentrate, prone to bloodshot eyes, nausea, dizziness, hair loss ~ which you are, and anemia, you could have a lysine deficiency.

Lysine is generally prescribed to resolve cold sores鈾?br>
Take a multi B complex supplement as this complex of vitamins is essential for healthy digesetion, neural and immune system functioning鈾?br>

Also ensure that you are drinking plenty of fresh filtered water on a daily basis as the secret to really lustrous and healthy hair is to ensure you are always adequately hydrated.\

??? Are you anorexic...have you been purging? Both these could cause the problem with your hair/nails. Other than that, you should really keep seeing a Dr. because it isn't normal for a girl your age to be losing her hair.

Try taking Biotin 5 mg. a day (1000 mcg.) It helps hair and nails. I started using it last year when my hair started falling out. Within a few weeks I could see short hair amongst my
long hair. Also my nails don't break and chip all the time anymore unles I hit them hard.

It could be a vitamin or mineral deficit, or possibly diabetes.Make sure that your eatting a healthy balanced diet and drinking 6-8, 8oz glasses of fluid a day. Have your parents make a Dr appt for you, they will probably need to draw blood and analyze where the deficiencies are in order to make a proper diagnosis.

You would need to get your hormones tested by an endocrinologist.

As for your thyroid...brittle nails are also a symptom,
Make sure the MD did the following tests: TRH (MDs don't like to do); TSH; free T3; free T4; calculated T3; calculated T4. Also your tests can be negative Yet you can still have a thyroid problem.

It is natural for hair to fall out: About 50 to 150 hairs a day.

For your nails...use "Hard as Nails".

NO, you DO NOT HAVE A DEADLY DISEASE...so relax.

The hair issue could be related to stress and the nails can be due to low iron. Perhaps going to another Dr. for a 2nd opinion would work. And the comment about thyroid and dr's hating to do some test...is so accurate. Good luck baby girl....and talk to your parents when you get scared. That's part of our job duties;;;lol

Actually if you have thick hair it is perfectly normal to lose a lot of hair... i know, i have asked my doctor, when I take a shower, it seems like Iose half my hair... You should only be worried if your hair is actually getting thinner, then go see your docter, but if it is not getting any thinner then don't worry, every girl around our age i know with thick hair does the same thing..
