Myositis is an auto-immune disease which you are right. This disease is treated by high dose of steroids which normally doctor will prescribed to the sufferer. Is a long term disease just like SLE but this is dangerous if happen in myocardial which is the muscle of the heart, the patient may be die of heart arrest when the attacks go to myocardium.

Myositis means inflammation of muscles. It can be bacterial infection, muscle tear, or autoimmune disease.

This is a disease you MUST see a doctor for. It can kill you. It is a muscle inflamation. If the diagnosis is polymyositis, please see a doctor and follow up immediately. The heart is a muscle and if the heart becomes inflammed by this disease you can die. I lost a dear friend to this due to non follow up. Get a second opinion if your primary MD isn't attentive. Please take care of yourself.
