Is lasik laser treatment for myopia really effective?? |
hi, i suffer from myopia and my doctor suggested that i have "lasik" laser surgery to correct it. has anyone undergone this procedure?? i have read that it is not 100% effective, there may be side effects. and even after doing the treatment, there is still a chance that i will have to wear glasses?? does anyone have more info? please help I had to have the procedure done twice due to very poor vision before the surgeries Yes, lasik is definitely an effective treatment for myopia! While it's not for everyone, it can greatly improve your vision and free you from glasses and contacts. It works very well for most nearsighted people. I had it done and it was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I ended up with better than 20/20! Four of my coworkers had it done and all of them are pleased as well. If you are a good candidate and you get a very experience doctor you should get excellent results. Side affects are rare. Glasses won't be needed until you are over 40 and may need readers as most people normally do with aging. When you get your initial exam the doctor will let you know if you are a candidate and inform you how the process is done. Good Luck! LASIK is very effective for correction myopia. It is true that a surgeon cannot guarantee you 20/20 vision - it all depends on how your eyes adjust to the surgery. If you're not at 20/20 after the first surgery, as long as you have enough corneal tissue you may do a retreatment to fine tune it and get it there. |
