What kind of profession is most suitable for people with high degrees of myopia?

What kind of profession is most suitable for people who suffer from high degrees of myopia (nearsightedness) or what kind of work they should perform in order not to hurt their eyes?

Well this optometrist gets to -14.25 in the worst meridian of my worst eye.
It's given me some insight (sorry) and empathy with at least my high myope patients.

It's a question better tackled from the other end.
High myopes are marginally more prone to retinal detachment, so occupations exposed to vibration or shocks are to be avoided: pneumatic drills, driving heavy machinery...
High diver, professional football player (USA)

Some occupations require good vision without glasses or contact lenses... principally branches of the military and the fire service, but heavy goods vehicle driving is also legally barred from high myopes on grounds of a minimum vision without glasses requirement in most countries.

Otherwise go for it!
Ski instructor, if you are happy in contacts
(glasses steam up!)

Do you wear glasses??? Nowadays they make thin lenses so you can do Anny profession you wish.

People who are short sighted can do almost any sort of work provided they wear corrective spectacles or contact lenses.
I,ve been Quite severely short sighted since age 11 years and working has not damaged my eyes in any way.
But of course there are some things I can do BETTER than people with normal sight , like tiny writing, or threading a needle, because I can focus so close to eyes . .

Why not Optometry or Ophthalmology/
But there is no limit to the careers that are open to you

People that are high myopes have no problem reading or doing fine work. They are already focused closely so it takes no 'work' to read. Farsighted people have problems with reading. They have to work to see at distance like a normal person would to read, then have to work even harder to read. So they get tired easily, mind wanders, need to nap after 20 minutes or so, eye strain, eye aches, headaches, loss of concentration.

The myopes don't get any of that. So there are a lot of lawyers and judges and doctors and executives or CEO's and legislators and college professors and...people who read.

The profession for you would depend on what is your real dream for yourself, not the acceptable one, the real one. Then make plans to get there.
