My son had to wear a patch for almost a year.
The first six months, he had to wear it 8 hrs. a day. The next 3 months, for 4 hrs. a day. The last 2 months, for 2 hrs. a day. Then he had his last checkup, and no longer had to wear the patch. His myopia, was corrected. It may be different for each individual.

If your eyesight is 550/20 then yes, your myopia is serious and you need glasses.
