One-eyed myopia?

One of my eyes is very, very nearsighted. I can barely see with it. The other is fine. My vision with both of them is 20/20, so my optometrist says that glasses will be worse for me because glasses make the eyes dependent on the lens and do not improve on their own. Is there a treament for this kind of thing?

There are some kind of eye exercises that I have heard about but I don't know much else. Eyeglasses would make your vision worse though. If your combined vision is 20/20 then wait as long as you can to get glasses. I am nearsighted in both eyes and in the past had an optometrist that over corrected them. My eyes kept getting worse and worse. I switched drs, and the new one could not believe how strong my contacts were. He reduced to prescription a lot, to where my eyesight was about 20/25 in both eyes. Now, every year my eyes are getting better as they become less dependent on the eyeglasses and I can see fine with my contacts (or glasses).

I relay don't know find this out on the Internet or your Doctor tell him/her what is going on and tell your parents your eyes are messed up i would look it up if i were you sorry about your eyes

1. Lasik
2. A contact lens on your eye with myopia. Ask the optomotrist if you have astigmatism. Those can help you see better.

  • Is severe myopia due to dominant genes? If so, how the heck did the ancestor survive??

Genetics isn't quite as simple as that, there's a sort of cumulative effect. Think of teeth. You can have two parents with straight teeth, but one of them passes on the gene for large...
