What is the right treatment of Myopathy.? |
I am facing a problem of myopaty for last five. Dr. says it is not curable. So I am very worried my health and future. Give me right suggestion for my health. Which myopathy??? This is a group of neuro-muscular disorders not a single disorder. Are you seeing a GP or a Neurologist? These disorders are not cureable but can be managed. Some progress quikly and others stay very much the same. So much depends on which one you have. Many doctors will give a general diagnosis like myopathy because they have not determined which one it is. They can be very difficult to diagnose as they all have overlapping symptoms. My son has a congenital myopathy, they have been testing him for 4 years and still dont know which specific disorder he has. Even with out them knowing which disorder there are some things that can be done to help. Eat healthy, dont become overweight it taxes the muscles more, Avoid fatigueing yourself. My son neurologist put him on Co-Enzyme Q10 and it has done wonders for him. It is available at the pharmacy, it helps with energy prodution in your muscles. It does not require a persciption. My son is 9 and takes up to 400mg. per day. Check with your doctors, ask about the studies done on Co-Enzyme and Duchene's patients. See if they think it may help. Supportive and symptomatic treatment may be the only treatment available or necessary for some disorders. Treatment for other disorders may include drug therapy, such as immunosuppressives, physical therapy, bracing to support weakened muscles, and then surgery. |
