I am a carrier of GBS Group B Strep. My kids were exposed and have health issues would this be the cause of? |
Trying to find the reason for my #1 son's muscle weakness could it have been caused by exposure to GBS? He is currently undiagnosed calling it juvenile myopathy. Also # 2 son has trouble in school with reading and math. Are these linked to being exposed to GBS during childbirth? GBS is known for causing encephalitis and meningitis in neonates; if your sons had either encephalitis or meningitis, then those could have caused brain damage and that could effect their bodily and mental functions. Although they could have gotten GBS from you, GBS, by itself, doesn't really have any effects like what you mentioned in your question, sorry. best of luck. i dont believe so i am a carrier too and my 2 kids are fine he should have had antibiotics when he was born...???? You should have been treated for strep B before giving birth by IV and then also after birth. I've never heard of strep B causing these S/S but check the internet or for better results, your OB/Gyn or pediatrician. |
