Just don't know what to do....?

I have Fibromyalgia and Metabolic Myopathy (a muscle weakness condition). I have been diagnosed 10 years ago.
I have to force myself everyday to get out of bed. But I refuse to give in to this condition.
I think I really suffer more from the Fibro than the myopathy.
I can't really take anything other than Neurotin for the pain. Anything else will affect my myopathy.
So I struggle everyday, as I'm sure everyone with this condition does. My kids are 15&17. But I think the problem is when I'm really down and need help from everyone, they just think I'll do it all on my own like I usually do. I tell them I'm having a really bad day (as they can tell by my moods). But now my hubby just doesn't seem to listen to me either, he just expects me to keep carrying on like I always do. But I can't.
I am so run down I can't stand it. I tell them I can't do anything, but they still ask, and then I feel guilty if I tell them no.
Any suggestions?
Thank you for reading this ;)

You HAVE TO take care of you first. I KNOW from experience that it is hard to put yourself first and that you can't say no to the family that has depended on you for so long but what are they going to do if you were gone? They would have to take care of themselves then wouldn't they? You need to have a family meeting and put your foot down and tell them you are not in good health and that they need to start doing their share around the house. If you keep on doing what they say to do, they will keep telling you what to do. Your children are old enough to do their share and I know your husband can do more too.

Taking the Neurontin is enough to bring you down. I had to get something else to take. I couldn't handle it. I now take Gabapentin which is the same drug but it is a tiny pill instead of the big capsules. I take it for back pain from 6 bulging disc.

Good luck to you and God bless.

You need to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else.... I can imagine you feel guilty about not taking care of your kids and husband, but you need TLC yourself. How about talking with a neutral party such as a psychologist or counselor and inviting your family to do the same or meet one with you? It is very difficult to cope with a chronic illness unless everyone around you is aware of the seriousness of your needs. You sound like superwoman, anyways!

I read a page on the net that might give you some help ( emotional as well as Physical ) it was @ http://MickyMantle.2ya.com

If your children and husband ask you to do something that they can do by themselves, just tell them so and don't do it. It must be really hard for you with your conditions to even keep it going. I'm healthy and fine but I honestly admit I sometimes get mad at my husband for expecting me to do stuff he can do by himself. When I get really fed up with it, I just tell him: "Do it yourself. You have legs and arms yourself and are not a child anymore, so just save yourself." Might sound rude, but that's the truth. My husband might get mad for a moment but then goes and does it. "Mother" and "wife" is not equal to "servant" and child-raising books say it is not beneficial for anybody to keep doing stuff for their children which they can do by themselves.

Hope this might help. I admire your courage to not give in to the disease.
