Limb-girdle-Questions.?

Hi everyone im new to the group. A little about myself im 23 yr male soon tobe 24 im married with 3 wonderfull kids.I have some questions about LGMD.

MEDICAL HISTORY:

Ok well first im haveing some muscle problems i have twitching and my mucscles get sore fast and stay sore longer than they should. Also when i put pressure on my shoulders and hips they start to shake like they cant take the pressure. A couple of yrs ago i did 50 leg crunches and my thigh's was so sore and within 2 days i was in the hospital in renal failure.I had a couple of EMG's done my first one showed nothing my second the dr tested the shoulder and palvic area and it showed PROIMAL MYOPATHY.and then i had a muscle biopsy done they took muscle from the arm and thigh.the biopsy came back with nothing found. They keep testing my CK levels and there not high. And im also haveing resportory problems im allways sick at least 3 times a yr with bronchitis.I am a smoker so it could just be that.

It cought my eye about LGMD becouse it starts in the shoulders and hip area's.I have not been diagnosed with LGMD. The dr's arent helping becouse the muscle biopsy came back fine. Can some please help me.

QUESTIONS:

1.If it is LGMD would the EMG say the disease or just Myopathy?

2.When they took the muscle biopsy they took it from the thigh and arm and it showed nothing.Should they take it from the shoulders and hip area were the EMG showed Proximal Myopathy??

I would also like to hear from other people with LGMD on how they became diagnosed and there problem there haveing with LGMD..

Thanks So Much...

First of all, your doctor seems to have run all the correct tests. So, that is a good thing. I seriously do not think that your renal failure had anything to do with your crunches. What did they say about it when you were in the hospital? It sounds to me like you have a bunch of different things going on. Have you ever heard of fibromyalgia? Myalgia means pain. it is generalized pain that can last for days, and there will be 18 tenderpoints that your doc can test. I assume you are seeing a rheumatologist. That would be one more thing to test for, and rule out or not. It puts me in bed for days at a time. Sounds like you have a lot of research to do. if it makes you feel better look for a support group on line that deals with LGMD, tell them your symptoms, and they will really be able to help you.
For your Bronchitis have you ever done a course of steroids. If you do take steroids frequently, it can cause Myopathy

I have never heard of this, but I recognise the symptoms. I also get a bit shakey when I put weight on my knees and hips. I have had physiotherapy and that strengthens some muscles I wasn't using, but I need them to be working for full strength. I am less shakey when I have done the exercises for a few days.
I show no signs of injury in my bones or muscles, but the physio seems to have helped so it may be just an injury caused the muscles to seize.
I doubt it can be that serious if the doctor hasn't diagnosed you with it.
I have no idea how leg crunches could have contributed to renal failure, the two don't sound connected, kidneys and legs?
