It is a heart attack, which means that there is death in the tissue of the heart muscle due to a loss of blood flow to a part of the heart. Coronary Artery Disease often (but there are other causes) leads to this as the arteries become more and more constricted by the build up of plaque, until something, such as a clot, completely occludes the blood vessel. At that point you are having an MI.

Acute myocardial infarction is death of a portion of heart muscle due to blockage of the artery that nourish that portion due to a clot or acute severe stenosis of that blood vessel.

More commonly known as a heart attack, is a medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, most commonly due to rupture of a vulnerable plaque. The resulting ischemia or oxygen shortage causes damage and potential death of heart tissue.
