What are the risks of cholecystectomy in cardiac and diabetic patients.?

The patient is 67 years of age , male, diabetic and has had a myocardial infarction 12 years ago, recently he was detected with acute cholecystitis . What are the risks involved in laparoscopic and open surgery?

Laproscopic surgery is much safer all round. Risks will included delayed healing and normal anaesthesia risks

His biggest risk is having you for his doctor

If diabetic status is controlled and cardiac condotion is fully compensated, there is not much of adedd risk. Laproscopic surgery is advisable.

If you have general anaesthetic, then it is harder on the heart. This is a risk that is diminished if you have local anaesthetic.
Diabetes diminishes the ability of the body to heal. Laparoscopic surgery is less invasive and would allow the body to heal quicker.
