what is acute inferior wall myocardial infarction?

It's what laypeople call a heart attack. There are several kinds of MI both old and acute. Anterior, anterolateral, lateral, posterior, anteroseptal, anteroapical and inferior describe the location of the infarct, which is tissue death (necrosis) from anoxia (lack of oxygen). AMIs (Acute MIs) can occur in the front wall, side, front and side, back, front and septum, front and apex (bottom tip) and lower wall when a coronary artery that should supply one or more of these locations with blood (and thus oxygen) becomes occluded (blocked) either partially or with a full occlusion. An acute (severe or sudden) inferior wall MI occurs in the lower wall of the heart.

I'm disappointed that the Asker didn't see fit to choose an answer but I thank the Voters who did. Thank you, Voters. Thumbs down to you, Asker. Report It
