Myasthenia gravis-is it possible to lead a normal life with it? |
can someone please tell me about the effect of myasthenia gravis on the quality of life.If the disease is identified at 25 years of age..how is the progress likely to be?any ideas on life expectancy? Is it possible to lead a normal life. My Aunts have this--they are all in their 50's. None of them were diagnosed with it until they were in their late 40's & early 50's. They are all 3 coping diferently with it as it has affected them each differently. They all still lead very active lives and don't let it slow them down. It's a matter of mind over matter--they each make sure they get plenty of rest before and after things that they know will wear them out, are careful about their diets, and have sought the most agressive treatments they can get. They are all happy in their lives and haven't let the disease control their lives. They treat it like everything else they've had to deal with in thier lives--it's just another challenge! I'd love to give you more advise--but it won't fit here! Email me directly and I'll give you some more details! Report It Someone afflicted with myastheia gravis can lead a normal life. However one cannot be cured of this disease. Nerve related symptoms (weak eyelids, leg/arm muscles) can be minimized with special drugs or surgery to remove any thymus growth. NO |
