If Myasthenia Gravis gets worse after surgeryTo where you can't breathe on your will you survive?

My friend is getting worse, he can't swallow, is very weak, now he is having trouble breathing on his own, they're thnking about puting him on a respirator, will this help him get stronger, or will he sty the same? Please tell me, so i can be prepared.

MG is no longer fatal - they have effective ways of treating it. Your friend is in rough shape, but it sounds like they're watching him closely. He will get through it. It may be tough for a while, but there are medicines and treatments that are very helpful. Hang in there!

It will definitely help. A ventilator helps to do the breathing work for the patient, allowing them time to recover and to correct or treat the underlying issue. Being on a ventilator is not a means of a final, it just helps to buy time. A ventilator is also not a cure all, it just helps to treat the patient and hope that the problem or problems can be corrected or managed. Hope this helps.
