Worried about future exercise after back muscle strain?

! week ago, I strained a back muscle in the upper left area while exercising in school. It hurt really badly whenever I pushed it harder than normal (for example, when I shifted my weight I felt the pain). It never hurt whenever I was simply walking or doing normal exercise. It's been exactly a week now, and I know that the pain is subsiding slowly. My fear is that I won't be able to push myself hard anymore while exercising. Will the strain make my back muscle more susceptible to future injuries?

I have a very protective mom, and she dislikes the idea of me doing anything anaerobic (she's big fan of running). Will I have to be more easy on myself in the future?

My advice is to REST completely, to allow your back to recover fully from the strain, before you resume your exercise routine.

Back pain can be a delicate matter and if not handled carefully, it could linger on for sometime.

The strain will not make back muscle more susceptible to future injuries if you treat it properly from the very beginning and do rehabilitation exercises for your back.

It's not a question of being easy on yourself when exercising in the future. It's the need to listen to your body when exercise; to know what's your limit and what's not, at all times.
