Mumps Questions?

Can a middle aged adult who has been immunized (1 mmr 20 years ago) still get the mumps?

I have a very large swollen spot under my right ear/jaw, sore throat, trouble swallowing, gagging on saliva, headache, hot and cold sweats and fatigue.

I don't know if I came in contact with someone who has mumps so that doesn't help.

Should I call the clinic or is it probably just a virus?

I am sure even with immunizations the possiblity of getting something is there. ...

Could be strep throat, could be Mono, could be just a virus. Go to the doc and get it checked...especially if this has been going on for more than a couple of days.

Yes adults can get the mumps. However since you've been immunized, I would check with a doctor just to make sure it's not that.

No sore throat with the mumps and the swelling is large, the entire side of the neck is swollen. Sounds more like an enlarged lymph node from a throat infection.
