Can I get the mumps? Please read description below:? |
My daughter was just vaccinated against mumps 12 days ago. I never had a mumps vaccination as a child because my mother had mumps when she was pregnant with me, so doctors said that I already had a natural immunity to the disease. You could just be ill. Mumps causes painful swelling in the salivary glands. A normal infection for example, a cold, can cause the lymph nodes to swell. When you are checking someones "glands" to see if they are swollen, those are the lymph nodes. Since your mother had it when she was pregnant, you should be immune to it. But I'm sure there is the exception right? All I know is that if you do have the mumps, it is highly contagious. Go to the clinic or Doctor. Immunity coming from the mother is not lifelong. It does not usually last beyond six months. Therefore, you do not have immunity to mumps. If your daughter was vaccinated 12 days ago, she cannot give you the disease. Either you have something else or you caught mumps from elsewhere. |
