Could this be mumps???

I have swelling and pain (not severe) in my parotid gland (between my jaw and ear) and a fever of 100 degrees. The pain and swelling have just started this afternoon. It definitely feels like a salivary gland issue, as it is a pain similar to that feeling that shoots up when I eat something really salty/sour. My husband suggested drinking pickle juice to see if it hurts (I guess this is a sign it could be mumps?) and it didn't hurt a lot, mainly just a stinging/pressure that moved up to by my ear. I did a little online research, and the CDC says mumps is quite rare now. That's why I'm doubting the mumps diagnosis, but I can't figure out what else it could be. I don't want to go to the doctor if there's nothing they can do, but don't want to miss it if it's something bacterial. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

probably not the mumps, not only did you get a vaccination for them, but your symptoms also don't match up. Could be an ear infection, sinus infection, a bad cold, strep, early stages of the flu. Stay hydrated, get lots of rest. Take some advil to help with the pain, swelling and fever, bundle up and get some sleep. Feel Better!!

Could be ear infection, early strep, sinus drainage, a buch of stuff. You'll have to go to the Dr for any of the above.
