Multiple myeloma/refractory/remission?

a person who has been in remission twice, had one stem cell transplant, myeloma 13 years prognosis please also what does refractory mean

"Refractory" is the term oncologists and hematologists use to describe a malignancy that has already been treated with the standard medications, but no longer responds to the standard treatments.
A person who has had multiple myeloma for thirteen years, and who has had a stem cell transplant has had a course that is remarkably long when you look at the averages.
Malignancies that "break through" standard treatments - or become unresponsive to the usual medications are called refractory to treatment. It does not necessarily mean that the end is imminent, it just means that the treatment team may need to try other approaches.

The doc has it coverered:

Refractory: Disease that is unresponsive to standard treatments.
