Multiple myeloma my mom has it and she was wondering if any one else experienced a lot of pain with it ?

She has just started her treatments and she ws also wondering what treatments any one else ahd if they had it. She does have three broken vertabreas in her back and is in a lot of pain.

You might want to join a few online Multiple Myeloma support groups. People there will understand what your Mom is going through and be able to point her to treatment options and just lend support. They can be a critical source of information.

Unfortunately myeloma can be very painful. As the cancer erodes the bone it's as if they have serious arthritis and every movement hurts. She needs to get pain medication. Sometimes it gets so bad the get hip replacements. Wish her all the best.
Not sure if this is the alternate page, but go online to a company called olivesoils.com (not my company), and order essiac tea in bulk, european mistletoe and calendula flower in bulk. Mix them in a tea and drink one or two cups a day. It settles the stomach, and the ingredients have been known for centuries to fight cancer. Two of my patients took it and got far better. God bless.

Multiple Myeloma (MM) can cause vertebral fractures as well as other painful processes. Treatment with steroids and chemotherapy can reduce symptoms.

For the initial management of a compression fracture, pain medications such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, fentanyl, and morphine are often required.

There is a fairly safe surgical option called kyphoplasty whereby the broken vertebra are re-inflated with a balloon and then filled with cement, restoring their original height. This can significantly reduce the pain associated with a compression fracture. Ask her oncologist or primary care physician for a referral to a physician who performs this procedure.

I am a 47 year old female and I have Multiple Myeloma. I was diagnosed on Dec. 18, 2006. I have been on Thalidamide, which I take every day, and Decadron, a steroid. Starting next month I am off the steroid for now.

I also have severe osteoporosis caused by the Multiple Myeloma. I fell in Feb. and broke my R wrist, L elbow and a rib. Fractures in the back are very common with this cancer. I am scared to death of that. No wonder your Mom is in alot of pain. Back pain is one of the most painful ailments you could have, besides it holds up the body so you can walk! Fractures of the hip is very common too, another fear of mine. I was curious about how old your mother is. I'm a younger than most Myeloma patient. I've been looking for someone near my age who has this and haven't met anyone yet.
