Is the mother or father responsible for a multiple birth?

It seems to me that it would be impossible for the father to have anything to do with a multiple birth since it involves nothing but the ova from the mother. Am I right?

Multiple births are hereditary, and yes it is on the maternal side. My friend Sarah didn't realize that their were twins in her family, but then again it also skips a generation. You have twins, or what not, then your grandchildren will most likely have twins as well. Good luck.

depends..there are two kinds of multiple birth, one that results to identical and the other to unidentical twins...sometimes, for some reason there are 2 ova available instead of one and if both of them were entered by sperm then that results to UNidentical twins...and the other is when one ova that meets with a sperm divides into two and multiplies separately then that leads to identical twins...so sometimes its both who's responsible and sometimes its just the mother

No body is responsible for this,it happened in that way normally goes one egg but ardently more eggs go in and it can happen.

Not really. Which ever way , the father is definately involved. The father and the mother are important in determining multiple birth!Without the father,there can never be a multiple birth.
The mother's ova sure results to baby(ies)...Either the mother produce a single egg that gets fertilized by the father which could further split into multiples ,or the many eggs produced by the mother could be fertilized individually by the father.
