I need advice on how to sleep through the night with my allergies.?

My room is cleaned and vaccumed every day. The air vents re cleaned. I;ve tryed the ac and ive tryed keeping my windows opened, and i'm still having trouble with my indoor allergies. I'm allergic to mold and dustmites, and wake up in the middle of the night an the morning having trouble breathing.
I do not have a sleeping disorder and do not have sleep apnea. I do have a movement disorder but that is not the problem. Keeping my windows open at night helps a bit but i'm very sensitive to sounds and now that is getting n my way to stay asleep. Anyone have any ideas on how to better sleep with indoor allergies?

I totally agree with what everyone has said (well most of them). To add to what they have said, if you have curtains, get rid of them and have only sheers. Curtains hold dust but sheers are not as heavy and will not hold the amount of dust that curtains do.

Also, if you do get a humidifier then be careful with it because if it gets too moist in your room that can still make you sick because mold generally forms in very moist area.

You mentioned vaccuming every day, is there any way you can get rid of the carpet? That too can be a part of the culprit. If you cannot get rid of the carpet, then what cleaning products are you using?

You will definitely want to switch allergy medications. Make sure to see your doctor and let him/her know the problems you're having.

Good luck & I hope you get to feeling better.

You may want to take a look at this website

1.If you sleep while cuddling with a stuffed animal, stop.
2.If #1 does not work, or you do not sleep with a stuffed animal, Get better medication.
3. If #2 does not work, freeze your bedspread and blankets for a few hours.

And keeping your windows open can only make it worse.

I bought a cool mist humidifier and the best filter I could find for my air conditioner. I could tell a difference after about a week.

Clean the mattress with a vacuum and wash it down. Cover the mattress and pillows with cover protector and mattress pad. Wash your sheets in hot water every week.

See a allergy specialist. I saw on and realized I was allergic to almost everything. I went on some RX drugs and they work wonders. I also take one Benadryl every night. Since I also have asthma I use advair disk and now sleep though the night. It was the first in a long time.

Keep the windows closed since more pollutes will come though the windows and cause more problems.

Good Luck.

Well, I had the same problem and I solved it by taking my once a day antihistimine at night just before bed. It works very well for me.

My daughter was diagnosed with asthma and put on steroid-based medicines to control it.She lived in constant fear of not being able to breath. I was searching for a product on the internet and found this product called AirSource it lives in my daughters room and runs 24 hours aday 7 days a week, her need for asthma medicine seems to have lessened and her reaction to allergens and pollutants are almost non-existant.The AirSource has freed her to play, run and just really live. The Unit is worth about $700.00 if interested. This unit is not big it with fix on your end table or dresser.
